Driveway Placement and Layout
Site Preparations:

1. Drill a pier hole 14" Dia. minimum and  7 feet deep. Remember deeper is better and if the soil is sandy or unstable consult with a soils engineer.

2. Frame a form out of the ground approximately 4" .

3. Use three to four 1/2" rebar from the bottom of the hole to top of form allowing at least 2" of concrete to surround rebar ends.

4. Use quality concrete (2500PSI) or better, don't use post hole concrete ready mix.

Note: The heavier the gate the deeper the pier, if soil is loose or sandy the pier must be deeper. Consult an engineer if soil is not stable. A 7' deep pier is only an average depth for most installations- your conditions may vary.
